Safeguarding children and adults

Health & Hope UK is committed to ensuring that children and adults are protected from all forms of harm and abuse, and able to live a life with dignity, respect and security.

Safeguarding is the term we apply to the protection from harm to all children and adults who are connected with Health & Hope and includes the more historic term ‘child protection’, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.

We believe safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and as such all of our staff and representatives must be aware of their responsibilities to prevent harm, exploitation and abuse and report any suspected or actual incidents. We require our partners to share our commitment to safeguarding and we support them to do so.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

All personnel affiliated with Health & Hope must uphold the highest standards of conduct. We take all reports of wrongdoing by our staff or associated personnel seriously. Sexual exploitation and abuse violate universally recognized international standards and harms the victim(s). Acts of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse are prohibited. You can view our Code of Conduct HERE.

You are strongly encouraged to report in good faith any instances of sexual exploitation and abuse of which you become aware. Reports may be submitted anonymously, and information provided will be treated confidentially and will only be disclosed to those who have a legitimate need to know.

To report a concern please email If you are concerned that the alleged incident relates to this member of staff, you should contact the Safeguarding Lead on the Board of Trustees in the UK, by emailing

Modern slavery statement

Health & Hope UK has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our activities and relationships to make sure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in Health & Hope UK or in any of our supply chains. We will also make sure our approach is clear with our partner organisations.

We believe that a modern slavery statement is an important part of our approach to implementing our overarching safeguarding policies and approach to protecting adult and children from harm. We are governed by our Articles of Association and a board of trustees who volunteer their time to help direct our work. They oversee our small UK staff team and activities.

While we is a small UK charity with very limited infrastructure, we recognise the risks of modern slavery are inherent in any supply chains, no matter the size. We will review our procedures and create an updated procurement procedures document and develop a risk assessment for current and new suppliers.

We carry out pre-employment checks, including making sure that our people have the right to work for us, have appropriate references and we review our pay structures regularly.
