Health & Hope is a partnership between Health & Hope Myanmar (HHM) and Health & Hope UK (HHUK).
Together, our mission is to bring hope and development to the poorest people in western Myanmar (Burma), through primary healthcare, education and food security projects. Our shared vision is to see lives transformed and communities that are thriving and self-developed.
HHUK's primary role is to provide representation, increase awareness, raise funds, and offer technical support for HHM, the implementing partner. The partnership is built on a foundation of our shared Christian faith, demonstrated in our commitment to prioritise loving God and loving our neighbours as ourselves. It is this faith which motivates our team to serve those in need.
HHM works primarily alongside the local church in carrying out its activities as, where it exists, the local church forms the bedrock of community life in many villages across the region. We are not, however, exclusive in our actions. Our Christian faith demands that we respect the rights and choices of all people we serve. As such, we work equally alongside villagers of any faith or none. We provide non-discriminatory humanitarian aid and development services in the areas of health, education and food security.

Health & Hope UK (HHUK) was first registered as a charity in the United Kingdom in 2013 (charity no. 1151105).
The charity was founded by a number of trustees who had either personal contact with Dr Sasa (the CEO and founder of HHM) over many years, or had visited the work of HHM in-country.
HHUK grew out of a small support base, receiving funding from those who had met Dr Sasa personally during his annual trips to the UK and the Channel Islands. Many people followed his journey, from studying as a medical doctor, to returning to serve his people in 2007 at the height of a regional famine. HRH The Prince of Wales
Health & Hope UK are delighted to enjoy the support of HRH The Prince of Wales as our patron. His Royal Highness has met personally with Dr Sasa on a number of occasions and has encouraged others to partner with our work in Chin State.
We are honoured and grateful to HRH The Prince of Wales for making time available to support our work and for the encouragement that this brings in the communities whom we serve.

2018-19 saw the culmination of a five-year plan. As we look back over this period, there is a real sense of celebration for all that has been achieved, refelcted in the growth of HHUK and HHM within the Health & Hope partnership. There have many tangible achievements in the building of the Health and Hope Training Centre, which is almost complete, and the start of the Lailenpi Airstrip project which will dramatically improve access to and from Lailenpi. This year, we have also seen our Traditional Birth Attendant project expand to train local trainers, who have themselves trained a further 91 women in birthing techniques and neonatal care. The new Education for All project has also fully launched, providing 100 ‘repeater students’ with full-time education support to pass their Year 10 exams.
We hope you enjy reading about all that has been achieved this year and the impact that our work, and your support, has had. It is only thanks to the support of our generous supporters and partners that we are able to continue to serve those in the poorest and most remote regions of Myannmar, seeing lives transformed and communities thrive through self-development.
