Health and Hope is a partnership between Health and Hope Myanmar (HHM) and Health and Hope UK (HHUK).
Together, our mission is to bring hope and development to the poorest people in western Myanmar (Burma), through primary healthcare, education and food security projects. Our shared vision is to see lives transformed and communities that are thriving and self-developed.
HHUK's primary role is to provide representation, awareness raising, fundraising, and technical support for HHM, the implementing partner. The partnership is built on a foundation of our shared Christian faith, a commitment to prioritise loving God and loving our neighbours as ourselves. It is this faith which motivates our team to serve those in need.
HHM works primarily alongside the local church in carrying out its activities as, where it exists, the local church forms the bedrock of community life in many villages across the region. We are not, however, exclusive in our actions. Our Christian faith, demands that we respect the rights and choices of the people we serve. As such, we work equally alongside villagers of any faith or none. We provide non-discriminatory humanitarian aid and development services in the areas of health, education and food security.

Health and Hope UK (HHUK) was first registered as a charity in the United Kingdom in 2013 (charity no. 1151105).
The charity was founded by a number of trustees, whom for many years had either personal contact with Dr Sasa, the CEO and founder of HHM, or who had visited the work of HHM in-country. HHUK initially grew out of a small support base, receiving funding from those who knew Dr Sasa personally as a result of his annual trips to the UK and the Channel Islands. Many people followed his journey, from studying as a medical doctor, to returning to serve his people in 2007 at the height of a regional famine. HRH The Prince of Wales
Health and Hope UK are delighted to enjoy the support of HRH The Prince of Wales as our patron. His Royal Highness has met personally with Dr Sasa on a number of occasions and has encouraged others to partner with our work in Chin State.
We are honoured and grateful to HRH The Prince of Wales for making time available to support our work and for the encouragement that this brings in the communities whom we serve.
Annual Report & Accounts
HHUK’s annual accounts are independently reviewed and published with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. You can download our latest annual financial accounts here.
On 30th May 2017, Cyclone Mora made landfall in Bangladesh before moving northwards through western Myanmar. Torrential rain and high winds destroyed homes and triggered landslides in rural villages. The cyclone devastated the majority of the HHM training centre; seven buildings were destroyed including the main training hall, kitchen and dining area and four dormitory buildings.

Despite these challenges, our Annual Report documents the amazing progress made in rebuilding a training centre which will last for generations thanks to the generosity of Health and Hope supporters. In addition there have been wonderful outcomes from our health work: We were delighted that in March 2018, the local community closed the under-5 orphanage thanks to the decline in maternal mortality after five years of training the local women with basic midwifery skills.
We hope that you enjoy reading through the latest copy of our Annual Report. It's been another challenging, but inspiring year of walking in partnership with communities in western Myanmar and we are very grateful for your support.
