Flood Relief Report

Posted on 2nd December 2015 by Chris Jones

Today, we're releasing a report on our work so far in responding to the devastating impact of Cyclone Komen on western Burma.

Over the last three months, the Health and Hope team have been providing food and medical aid to families affected by the flooding.  So far, we have been able to distribute 1,487 bags of rice totalling 74,350kg of food aid.  In addition, cooking oil, dal and other non-perishable food items were distributed to those in need.  We were also able to deliver 400 clean delivery kits to pregnat women and run free health clincs in 47 locations across Chin State.

You can download our full report by clicking on this link.

Our relief efforts have provided the equivalent of one month’s food to over 8,900 villagers.  However, due to the long term impact on agricultural land and the loss of key transport infrastructure, we expect food insecurity to persist over the coming 9 months.

Many of you have donated generously to the work, for which we are enormously grateful - we couldn’t have achieved all that we have without your support!

Empty handed to overflowing baskets…

We're delighted to be able to share some of the photographs of food aid arriving into villages in Chin State during September and October.

Despite an arduous journey by the team and many volunteers, there was immense gratitude from villagers for the provision of food aid and support received.

The photographs show villagers arriving at collection points where food aid is distributed and shared. The women fill their baskets and then return on foot to their villages.

There are still many families without food in villages connected to the work of Health and Hope through our Community Health Worker training programme and we continue to deliver food aid across the region to those most in need.

Thank you for your support!
